Oil is the bees knees when it comes to deep cleansing your face. The science behind it in a nutshell is “like dissolves like” – the oil cleanser attracts the natural oil on your skin which has grime, pollution and makeup in it and draws it out and away without stripping your skin like some cleansers can. This is beneficial as your skin won’t go into overdrive producing more sebum which can lead to clogged pores, pimples and irritation. Oil cleansing has it’s roots in the ancient Ayurvedic technique of oleation.
We have formulated two recipes, so there is sure to be one to suit your skin type.
Normal – Dry – Mature – castor oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, frankincense essential oil, lavender essential oil.
Normal – Oily – Blemish-prone – castor oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, tea tree essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, lavender essential oil.
How to use
For a full-face cleanse – Use 1 pump in the palm of your hands and massage using your fingertips all over your face for one minute. Wring out a hot washcloth and place over your face and allow the steam to open your pores, then use the cloth to wipe away the oil. Rinse cloth and repeat if needed. Pat face dry with a towel and follow with a couple of drops of your cleansing oil, or Fabulous Face Oil
As an eye makeup remover – Simply squirt some oil cleanser on to a cotton ball, or make up remover pad and gently wipe over eye area to remove makeup. You may want to remove excess oil with a warm damp cloth if you are reapplying makeup right away.
*If you are new to using an oil cleanser, start slowly to allow your skin to get used to a new routine. Aoraki Naturals’ Oil Cleansers use mild and gentle plant oils with therapeutic grade essential oils at minimal usage rates, so should be fine for even very sensitive skin. If irritation or marked redness does occur, stop using. A patch test is advisable if you are extremely sensitive. We can custom make a fragrance-free cleanser on request.
